Six of us rode together — some of us hadn’t been on a bike in years, others do this every season. Rideawayy planned the entire route from Guwahati through Ziro, Mechuka, and back, and honestly, that’s the part that made the trip work. The roads out there don’t forgive mistakes, and having a team that had already ridden every stretch we were about to attempt made all the difference.

One of our bikes had a clutch issue two days in, deep past Along, nowhere near a town. A call to the Rideawayy support number and within a couple of hours their local contact had it sorted — we barely lost half a day. That’s not something you get with a rented bike and a printed map.

We hit Ziro during the music festival, which they’d planned around on purpose, and honestly that night around the bonfire with music playing and the whole valley lit up is something none of us will forget. The homestays were simple but warm, the food was real Apatani cooking, not a tourist menu.
